Artist Statement

I began this series of paintings in January of 2024. Originally the working title was 

Antiquity Paintings. After the first two paintings were underway they changed course

 and went into a more distinct direction, becoming Fallen Empires, or Fallen Empire Paintings. I didn’t want to be too topical nor too literal. Essentially the paintings were influenced by the rather chaotic state of our world, the understanding of history, the understanding of the power of history, the frailty of empires, and the  beauty of transformation . The series as a whole is up to about 25 paintings now. So I am presenting eight of them for your review. Thank you.
